Oh hapless Judas! - preordained by God
For treason so that profit may accrue,
Oh pitiful and dreadful human lot,
So that salvation came to me and you

Struck blind by high ambition, - it is true,
And disappointed by the Master so,-
This happens to all those that do pursue
A goal with muddled minds, and then sink low.

He did betray the Master, yes, - betray,
But fathomed not the consequence if it,
We do betray the Lord on any day
And comfortably in a church pew sit.

Lo! Judas did repent and took the rope
In shame and boundless sorrow of his deed,
Had lost faith in forgiveness, trust and hope,-
We hope in spite of ugly deeds and greed.

He gripped the goat-gut rope despairingly,
While turncoat Christians feel so safe in Him,
And without qualms trust in the clemency
Of Christ the Savior that He will redeem.

A Christian is revealed by the degree
That he trusts God- that boundless mercy may
In infinite compassion find a way
To pardon those who thoughtlessly betray.

Judas despairingly did grip the rope,
But Christians putting all their trust in HIM
Must understand - for Judas too is hope
And on His day the Savior will redeem

Without poor Judas no salvation, he
Did merely execute divine a plan,
God's plan it was, - and not fortuity!-
Absolve the dull, distraught, disgruntled man!.

Blessed by the sculptor artist who did see,
And his work,- amazingly portray
A Judas set from raven tunnels free
To find in Jesus’ arms his lasting stay

I loved this! everything about it the music, image and last but not least the poem, God if you could see me now! (I'm sure he can!)

I've just massacred the tune by singing along!

oh dear Elizabeth!!!- this one leaves me breathless indeed!!! Makes one think deeply.if Judas had not carried out what god had planned for him ....what would the outcome have been? Puts a whole new light on thinking why bad things happen and if they are really truly bad? I applaud the way you put this world in perspective!! hugsssss.Peace and Light........Sara

Dear Elizabeth,
What a joy to read your work.
I wish I had half your skill and knowledge!
You are a beautiful person displaying true belief that is a real blessing to all.
Your work is a reminder that God has a plan...for us all!
5 stars[again]
from Coni.

Pre-ordained I have long believed, but who knows he mind of God ?
I have even prayed for the soul of Judas for what is man,but the work of God.
Who knows the mind of Judas--I feel he hung himself in despair guilt, sorrow and couldn't get to or face the Savior to beg forgiveness. Just my feelings.
Elizabeth another wonderful poem by a writer.

I oft look at the differance between Judas and Peter, both betray one repented and went on to do great things for God -the other went to his grave in shame it is a great lesson here. You have written a great poem. "All betray, who will change? 5 stars

This was really good. As a Christian i know that people dont often think where we'd be if it weren't for Judas. Our betrayals of Christ are often worse than his. Very well done.
