With the fading of daylight, as dusk shrouds the Earth
This lone knight lay vigilant, as evening gives birth
To the wonders of twilight, and cool evening mist
He thinks on his morrow, the end of his quest
New lands lay before him, of little he knows
He has bravely gone forward, to better his foes
Accepting each challenge, in a quest he holds dear
Knowing each victory, is bringing him nearer
For the quest he has taken, from long ago start
To claim the fair maiden, with key to the heart
Which pounds, buried deep, beneath leather and steel
In his battle torn body, seasoned and skilled
He has little for riches, save the tools in his pack
His sword and his shield, the clothes on his back
Courage and honor, his lance, and his steed
A life filled with valor, and chivalres deed
He bears neath his tunic, kept close to his heart
A tatered lace favor, his love did impart
As a promise once given, to a valiant young knight
Who had stolen her heart, with his goodness and might
Now as new dawn awakens, he will enter her land
A noble, proud knight, to ask for her hand
If his love should await him, he'll bear her away
To love and protect, to the end of his days

Wow. Honestly, just... Wow. I love the whole image of a knight, for one thing, and for another, the rhyming was just gorgeous, as was your wording. Wow. I really don't know what to say, but I thought that it was absolutely amazing. A beautiful story, a beautiful poem. |
