In a wandering crowd, no faces I see,
Nor the mirrors reflection shows me, me,
We’re all lost in translation, all finding our way,
Drifting through night and running through day,
And even though I’m just fifteen years old,
I speak what they say, and I am what I’m told,
Questions they fill our bewildered young mind,
Answers in which we never will find,

Who am i? Where am I from?
And what am I trying to be?
Is my identity theirs?
Or chosen by only me?
Will I make decisions?
Or for me will they be made?
Will I stay behind my mask?
While my identity is left to fade?

Scared to accept the truth,
I’m hiding in the hazes,
Running away from myself,
And dodging disgusted gazes,
God will only judge me,
But the watchful eyes will scorn,
My identity is tainted,
And my lonely heart is torn,
The people round me mould me,
Like a piece of dough,
And the marks from my experiences,
Cut deep in my skin to show,

I’ve locked up my identity,
And forgot where I left the key,
Now when they turn to judge me,
It is just a clone they’ll see,
A vision of modern society,
The Medias latest pop dream,
The same as any replica,
That same as any teen,
We march in lines, all look the same,
And dream our dreams at night,
On the outside we are happy,
On the inside we put up a fight,

Why am I like this? Who am I to say?
Why am I the same in every single way?
Why am I afraid to show the truth?
In dear of what they’ll do?
They would accept me as I was,
If my friends were true,

But I turn my back for a second,
And find a dagger there,
Left by touchstone *****,
But also from the people who ‘care’,

My chin is lowered,
I don’t hold my head high,
But cover the tears,
That my slander let cry,
I’ve endured the biggest burden of them all,
But standing still I’ve begun to fall,
I feel like a freak, a liar, a fake,
And slowly I fear I am slipping away,
Cos I’ve kept the truth for any sake,
And my sexual identity’s brought me dismay,
And in my eyes you’ll see the pain
Cos all that’s left is just a name

The Lost Identity

In a wandering crowd, no faces I see,
Nor the mirrors reflection shows me, me,
We’re all lost in translation, all finding our way,
Drifting through night and running through day,
And even though I’m just fifteen years old,
I speak what they say, and I am what I’m told,
Questions they fill our bewildered young mind,
Answers in which we never will find,

Who am i? Where am I from?
And what am I trying to be?
Is my identity theirs?
Or chosen by only me?
Will I make decisions?
Or for me will they be made?
Will I stay behind my mask?
While my identity is left to fade?

Scared to accept the truth,
I’m hiding in the hazes,
Running away from myself,
And dodging disgusted gazes,
God will only judge me,
But the watchful eyes will scorn,
My identity is tainted,
And my lonely heart is torn,
The people round me mould me,
Like a piece of dough,
And the marks from my experiences,
Cut deep in my skin to show,

I’ve locked up my identity,
And forgot where I left the key,
Now when they turn to judge me,
It is just a clone they’ll see,
A vision of modern society,
The Medias latest pop dream,
The same as any replica,
That same as any teen,
We march in lines, all look the same,
And dream our dreams at night,
On the outside we are happy,
On the inside we put up a fight,

Why am I like this? Who am I to say?
Why am I the same in every single way?
Why am I afraid to show the truth?
In dear of what they’ll do?
They would accept me as I was,
If my friends were true,

But I turn my back for a second,
And find a dagger there,
Left by touchstone *****,

Life throws many tests at us, but the hardest
test is to look inside ourself. Often we do not
like what we see, but these things are not set
in stone, it is our actions that determine who
we are. Insightful write, often you have said
that your poems are only words, however
perhaps this is closer to you, in any case
i feel i can guess the inspiration. Know that
they to were only words however rude they
may have been. Yet again ur writing improves
though there is few material to view.

OMG (indeed)...

I have discovered through trial and error, primarily the latter, that none of us stands at the helm of life's great ocean liner; control is an illusion; destination itself is a pitiful chimera; we are at best mere passengers aboard a drifting vessel, until we know a greater Master (as Christ) and tell Him to take the wheel. (great Midi short of Underwood's Jesus Take the Wheel:) http://www.hanel-m.de/lyrics.htm

Wow, your muse sounds so much like me as a youth! Only a real and special person thinks behind the scenes and looks for the "heart-of-the-matter issues." This is masterfully and also brilliantly ascribe; and a pleasure to read. Thanks for sharing.

Regards,
~Lilly-Quill
