more than you know
I’m glad you’re off
to the next cattle show
While clippin’ bovine hides
and combin’ out tails
loadin’ up trailors
and stackin’ bales…
You’ll be kept busy with
country life and country thinkin’
followed by some country drinkin’
country songs and country dancin’
not to mention country romancin’
You’ll do your chores
and grab some grub
rest a spell
give your back a rub
The work that awaits you
puts a smile on your face
Others are lost
in this world
but you know your place
As you load your Chev
givin’ your decals a shine
a shudder of pride
runs down your spine
You know that you
are just a country hick
you smile again
give your tires a kick
You scrape the manure
that adorns your boots
You know that country is…
Your FAMILY
Your LIFE
Your ROOTS
These are the things
I love about you
You are pure country
through and through
You have loved and lost
and loved again
your courage
is what I revel in
I grab a smoke
and a Coors light
I look out the window
to see the coming night
My heart still a poundin’
Body still a shakin’
realizin’ that I was mistaken
but now you know
just how I feel
and my country feelings
are very real
It does not matter
that you don’t feel the same
I shared my country heart
without shame
I’ll pray for you
on that lonely road
I know upon
those shoulders
you carry a heavy load
There is a country song
that explains how I feel
so I ask this of you
Allow McGraw to verify
what is in my heart
I have completed my part…
I hope that by
your journeys end
Tim will have convinced you…
You’re My Best Friend……..
