Moriah

Contributed by NoSaint on Friday, 10th March 2006 @ 07:03:04 AM in AEST
Topic: fantasy

Land laid waste in sorrow
Divest of all its charms
Looking for a better morrow
Where the evil may be disarmed

The wizards all fought a good fight
For they believed in what was right
But the evil one struck them down
With a striking shrieking sound

What is left is just an apprentice
Thought of little consequence
And a large book of ancient writing
With this she will do her fighting

She hid in a cellar dank
Listening as her heart sank
But the book began to glow
And she found the will to know

So now high on the mountain
She sits by the fairy fountain
And reads the words carefully
Making sure every nuance she sees

Moriah is her name
And one day it will bring fame
For only but a child of ten
She will restore the world again

Darkness has taken its stand
Desolation covers the land
High on a mountain tall
Is the Child Moriah so small

From the book of words ancient
She will try to save a world spent
Armed with magic and a heart pure
She wills the darkness cured

Fairies her only friends
And with them her time now spends
But she has no room for play
For the darkness is coming her way

Words her weapon of choice
Soon there will be room to rejoice
Brave is this child of light
She will fight with all her might

As the evil move up the mountain
She still works hard by the fairy fountain
Practicing every nuance and flare
For no mistakes does she dare

The fairies stand by her side
For they know they can not hide
From this that is coming
All of nature is humming

She concentrates and utters
Words, then a flashing sputter
Not much more than sparks
Then all around went dark

One of such a tender age
Is the only chance to end the rage
So she tries one more time
And lightening flashes strong sublime

Raising her arms to the sky
She chants and gives it one more try
Aiming at an old dead tree
Setting a raging fire free

Smiling she turns the page
Reads a spell from a long ago age
This one brings icy hail
Freezing all in its trail

Not much more time to learn
She will now take a hero’s turn
Using all she has acquired
Oh how she is feeling tired

This little one so strong
Fallen or a hero before long
For the devastation is almost here
At the wall of the fairies sphere

So she gathers her book
And hides it in a dark nook
The Fairy Queen sprinkles dust
To add strength this is a must

Standing all of 3 feet tall
She is willing to give her all
The fairies make the sphere
Turn to dust and disappear

Now is the time for she
That will set the world free
Moriah small but large of heart
Is now ready to do her part

There stands Moriah 3 feet tall
Facing the hideous evil covering all
A horde of creatures from the depths of hell
Can she defeat them only time will tell

Their leader let out a loud hiss
Arrows flying round her head all a miss
Moriah raising arms to heavens gate
Striking fear amongst the demons that wait

For around her shines the purest light
Now they are not sure they can win the fight
From the sky above a cloud begins to form
Lightening and thunder heralding a terrible storm

Then the hail begins to fall causing all to freeze
One poor demon shattered to bits for he let out a sneeze
Another spell she casts looking the biggest creature in the eye
Smiling she whirls around and says today is the day you die

Out of her hands a fiery blast is seen
And this horde of demons turns to mist of green
The mist she gathers to a ball and bouncing takes its place
To the hall of memories where forever it will be encased

Even as they look below the fairies cry with joy
For flowers start to bloom and trees their leaves employ
Evil banished from the world by a small girl
And now beauty is coming back as blessings unfurl

Moriah takes the book from the niche she had stored
And she will teach other children so ancient works won’t be ignored
Another group of sorcerers to protect the land
Stronger now for they are aided by the Fairy clan

Your story telling ability is phenomenal. I am so excited when I see you write in this from. I once wrote a long, story telling poem titled "A Saga of Foes" which I thought would be my masterpiece, but I found as the story went on it lost it's charm. It was so long, that it was impossible to keep it's form as a poem and became confusing. I tell you this, to show that I admire not only your poetic talent, not only your story writing ability, but the skill you posses to melt both in the same pot.

This was a very good write, which was never confusing, and did not seem to take too long, because it flowed and worked itself into a wondrous thing.

WELL DONE!
