Wasn't sure where to begin
Didn't think I had enough might
Or courage within

To talk to this guy
Who I wanted so dear
For him to be interested
In my corky appeal

I didn't want to seem too voracious
I wanted to seem impressed
I didn't want to seem uncurious
Or even obsessed

I decided I needed to meet him
No matter how far the ride
I knew it was a whim
I just had to ask with pride

So I asked if we could meet
He replied with a "yes"
He's so very sweet
Yet still I started to stress

He was way out of league
I'd have to give my all
I knew I'd catch fatigue
If I wanted to enthrall

The nerves went away
I'd set myself straight
I put myself at bay
Until he approached the gate

I looked into his eyes
And I knew I'd screw things up
As soon as he said hi
I felt like such a schlup

How could he like me?
I was nothing next to him
I needed to guarantee
My personality wouldn't cave in

The night was a blast
I had so much fun
The time passed fast
I wasn't sure what was to come

We watched t.v
Silence came fast
I felt like debris
I sabotaged the night at last

It was all my fault
I let my shyness come through
He'd never call
And I couldn't start anew

We kissed good night
Then he closed the door
I hoped the night was a delight
And that he'll want to meet more

So off I was
On my 2 hour drive
Thinking about my flaws
Just trying to survive

The excursion was extraordinary
The guy, a total prize
I hoped he felt the night was merry
And that there'll be more tries. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 160 [topic] => 21 [informant] => Emolaw69 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
