Ash
On Ash
Wednesday
Man does recall
Dies Cinerum,
The day of the Ashes,
The time of sackcloth and Ash,-
“Remember man that you are Dust,
And to Dust you shall return again“.

Ashes are applied to the forehead,
Symbol of man’s mortality,
And symbol of salvation,
This little ashen cross,-
Does mark indelibly
All those that wear it
To be saved
With their
Ash

Ash
I’ll be
Before long,
Perhaps scattered,
Or a heap of Ash,
None can find it again,
Where do ashes go of those
That can not boast of relatives?
Yet there is One who pays attention

And gathers the ashes up with care,
Whether in an urn or scattered,
And mindful of the marking,
The indelible sign,-
Beholds His likeness
And vivifies
The hallowed
heap of
Ash.

Elizabeth, This form of poetry is beautiful- looks to be difficult though. The poem itself is a great affirmation of our mortality and faith in resurrection. Peace and Light!!!.....Sara
