Can I really rest?

Topic: AmericanTragedy

Can I really rest?
For all the lines I transgress,
Come burn, hunger, thunder, and stress,
For all the blood on my hands,
Come bittersweet regrets,
For all the times I tried my best only to be gripped by fear like the rest,
May I turn over a new leaf,
Burn my memory like a soft marshmallow,
And I will sit back humble,
And pray for thunder,
To entertain the campfire,
That I’m capable of,
Till my pride bubbles up,
May I reason my way out of troubles,
And the pen is not my own,
But the manifestation of another,
Inner spirits that rise up to bond like sister and brother,
For all the sins we shoulder,
May we smother them in laughter and good nature,
For natural law to me is second nature,
Revolutionary’s will get you no where,
But if you try it,
You better die by it,
Cause simply put I’m a ride or die rider,
I have no time for it,
Your ignorant conceptions of heaven,
Your blatant disregard for the living,
Will find yourself digging, your own descent,
Hellbent young men, It’s more than Arabic,
It’s a matter of arrogance,
Too much testosterone and some sort of chemical inbalance,
Creates a false sense of power,
May I stand by strong to fix my own mess,
In this lifetime not settle for the next,
No matter how hopeless it gets,
Try to live for every breath,,
Till the terror subsides,
Till the ignorance dies,
Till the enemy becomes our friend,
Only then could I rest.
I got mistresses missing in mysteries,
I got angels I follow at night in my dreams,
Sometimes it seems my life is one big prophecy,
An enormous scheme to shoulder, but I do it heartily extraordinary,
Like I got an extra force inside of me, that says go at it,
But the Lord humbles me in American tradegy.

we all wait for the day that humankind can actually see we are all on the same level...when each person is seen for their special gifts

A thought provoking write very well penned indeed. I like the way u brought this across to ur reader. Yes we are all on one level, sadly others don't see it that way. You did a fine job with this write. Well done.

It's well written, but needs to be a little more focused, I think. Mayhap there's material here for more than one poem.
