to believe in lust
and the purpose of beauty.
Temptation is in full light
which eludes our sight
because of prejudice eyes.

We had make a painting of you
though not in your native colours,
history has taught us
to believe in ignorance.
So we seduced you in the warmth of a seaon,
just before winter covered us,
for it was you who taught us
warmth is the nurturer of dreams.

We had made you in a sculpture
so birds would have a place
to rest their tired wings.
And they sang you in psalm
because you flourish
in the rhythm of the Word.

We had written you with a pen
in an attempt to create order
with your ink,
with a caress along your side.
So we made you in a poem.
A muse was our cover
but it was our bed
that required the warmth.

We had married a book of blank pages
in hopes of filling them
with the wisdom of confession.
Have we been guilty all this time of lust?
What sensations do feeling form
when absence is guilty of sin?
We fell asleep and made you in a dream.
It was on a night we were afraid to wake up. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 283 [topic] => 48 [informant] => eggflipper [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )
