Every morning she rose
With the sun
To the ridge she went

Raising arms to the sky
Thanking the spirits for their gifts
To each direction she sang her song
A song of praise just to live

Every evening with the setting sun
She returned to her favorite spot
Again her song could be heard
A song of thanks for the day

Many years she followed this route
Giving all she had to others
Always praying her songs
Till the ancestors came to take her home

But at sunrise and sunset
They say they can still
Hear her songs echoing
Over the ridge

Songs so ancient

Oh my!

How inspirational! You know this poem is not startlingly deep. Yet the doors of the mind which are opened with your words, are rejoicing off their hinges! I completely adored this poem. Sometimes those ambigious, deep, emotionally drenching works effect us in manners of passion, but usually that feeling comes and goes. Here, this story is so simply stating opening worlds of imagery for the reader.

I picture this woman as a villager, wearing torn and tattered clothing, washing the clothing of the elite peers among her. As they mock her in the distance, she hears them but only as a background soundtrack to her ever praising nature.

This is just a tremendous write, with such a simplistic tone. Simplistic beauty with a gentle short tale inside of it. The final lines or line, however you may interpret it, allows a wide open ending, which is to express the infinite nature of both the tale's topic, and the spirit of the woman.

Just a superb job all around! I could actually see this in the English / Lit books for the next generation. While, personally I usually fall for the deeper more emotional works of any poet, including you. I have to say this classic work beats all of those which I admire so much. Simply astouding in ever growing power!

I will be revisiting this write many times. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
