Elusive moments

Please come home,
You've been away for far too long,
My arms long to hold you tight,
Come home, tonight.

Swaying breezes steal your name,
Your breath it vanishes with the dew.
Your face it fades from my view.
I miss you.

Sunset's fiery tribute to the day,
One day closer to seeing you.
Night brings loneliness and shadowy hues.
I need you.

Dance with me like days gone by.
Let my see mischief in your eyes.
May our fingers be entwined,
As I whisper,
I love you.
.....................................................................................

I am lying on my bed. White cotton, simple, embracing. Eyes open. Clear eyes, purified by this momentary cleansing. Tiny pin-points of light flicker around the room, intricately dancing with the shadows of the ceiling and the mysterious whisperings of the wafting curtains. Gentle hands lain protectively on my chest. Slow, peaceful heart beat. My white silken nightgown falls carelessly from the curves of my shoulders, breasts, hips. Once-elegant lace caresses the nape of my neck. Bare thighs test the cool breeze, protecting undiscovered secrets. Soft hair falls away from my face. Dimmed candles waver unsteadily, creating an aura of unreality. Reality is a memory, to be read about if the desire arises. Unreality has triumphed.

Breathing even, mind empty. Wisdom in waves flows smoothly. Grasped but not understood. Serenity floats free of its bonds and settles in my mind. Torment and tragedy are nothing but ancient pictures. A tear, strong and innocent, travels down my face. Not sadness or happiness; purity. Powerful in its simplicity. Overwhelming in its completeness.

Acoustic glimmers of sound swell around me. Almost rising in the centre of my vision but then sliding away to dance with the shadows. Elusive notes from beautiful melodies swirl with the breeze, drawing me up and in with enticing promises. Secrets and promises, they sigh. I sigh. Eyes still open. Seeing without looking. Seeing much more than there is to look at.

Without warning, it is swept away. A defiant breeze destroys my dancing lights, offering me once again to the clutching darkness. Memory and realisation course through my senses. Final strains of melody slink into unfindable corners, hiding from the black. Reality is victorious once again. I wipe my tear and withdraw back into the covers. I close my eyes. Satisfied, almost. Atleast for a moment, I was free.
