Array ( [sid] => 114745 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Below Sea Level and Below Poverty [time] => 2006-02-13 11:27:17 [hometext] => This is just some insight and thoughts that i felt while watching the choas Katrina left beyond the damage. Mixed with my college life and my issues. [bodytext] => This disaster happened months ago and you ain’t forget
Yeah I did I must admit
It didn’t bother me neither
Until once again I saw people put in bad situations that had my same features
Ain’t never been to a saints game
But now they get the privilege of sleeping in the bleachers
Now every government official wants to use god and wants to be a preacher
But you can’t use god in school
Maybe it’ll be ok if we taught a scripture or two on cable
So I wrote Below sea level and below Poverty
Its ironic how some are starving
and reporters got food oddly
On that day them New Orleans became them new Orpheans
I guess it was about a race because they were the last to the chase
Dem levees levels only covered a F3
They needed help but couldn’t find the F1
See thats the key
But that F1 is frightened so he flies around in Air force 1
We can shoot them missiles
But if I shoot for the stars I’ll owe the government loans and fees
In this disaster the only cheese they’ll get from the government is that box of cheese
Its funny how one election can determine a reaction
Hurricane or Tornado nothing would’ve happened
See in a place where the nations poorest
Are put on a stretch of land that’s characteristics were poorest
Graves that lay above ground in cement fixtures
It seems that it would’ve been a clue but they painted over the picture
But when those towers crashed
No building were there, but Police and fireman ran in like back draft
In this case the fireman and the police ran away, like it was ok
But the reality was
They were scared because they created this monster
See but the natives were seen raiding Meijer’s
Our government intelligence sent scuba divers in 4 ft of waters
I hear it’s the thing to due to get rid of other cultures
Aids, Genocide, Homicide, or keep them poorly suppressed like apartheid
Trying to make a whole culture disappear wit time like Atlantis
At least, the least of their worries is not having Neo-Nazis coming to their campus
The media gave a voice to the voiceless
Edited and depicted it until they had no choices
The media limited their coverage to last about a couple of weeks
Weaker will get weaker while the wealthy reaches they peaks
But just like the poor’s issues it’ll go into stealth
When the water took over the streets like Venice
Years earlier poverty took over those same streets like Venus did tennis
Just like tennis the prestigious stood and watched high away from the battle
It seemed to me others saw it as a publicity stunt and a promotional event
But its up to us to judge their true intent
But let’s not miss the underlining theme
Now people rush to buy that land
Not to rebuild
But to rebuild green
Below sea level and below poverty
I refuse to be below eye level and in any form cowardly

I aplaud your insights and conclusions with a standing ovation. We are the only ones who change the way our government treats us. Albeit,we will need to stand together, undivided by fear of each other, but we can beat them. They are few, we are many. Without us, they would not exist. So who is really in control here, them or us?

Pardon my little soap box speech in reply to your poetry. I like the fact that you are stating, that you know how to develop your own opinion and do not rely on others to create it for you. That is how Mr Evil got re-elected. Cause the poeple who vote had their Daddy, Mommy, Bishop, Priest, Community spokesperson tell them who to vote for. The rest is history.

You are welcome to join us is you will. http://www.dragonbluespoetry.com
