******************************

fourteen lonely years
teased by all the boys
about her reputation
she didn't invent it
i guess we all mess with the wrong people sometimes

everyone she has loved just leaves
and she is left holding on to empty air
sometimes she gets her self upright
and can stand and hold on a little
but her pride just flies back out her window

summer is so great
but then again, so is love and happiness and freedom
and she can't taste those either
on the tip of her tongue is one bitter word:
lonliness

dare not to speak it
she will start to cry
and fades away, disintegrates from her tears
don't show her something pretty
cause she will be afraid she can't measure up
all she needs is your arms to hold her in
until she can stand on her own again

a day in the life takes a toll on her spirit
and when the sun goes down
the emotions come out
she needs the sun
to come up and say that here is a new day, to change the bad
and when it doesn't change there is still
that small chance tomorrow may be different
so she keeps sticking to her dream
as it slowly fades

they say if you die in your dream you die for real
and the nights she dreams of drug lords shooting up the room
she wakes and just needs someone safe
but she is alone in a cold, dark, steel room
maybe she has died by now

i don't know where she is
no forwarding address when she moved
but wherever she went, i hope she found
what she was looking for out of life

lord knows i couldn't give it
