Gave my sweetie and I a wonderful chance to escape and just get a way
So we jumped in our Mustang convertible and quickly took the top down
Although it was a tad bit chilly, we bundled up and wore not a frown
With my camera in hand and the sun shining so bright on my face
My sweetie behind the wheel--we took off to the beach at our own pace
As we drove along, I held the camera firmly on top of the windshield
And quickly snapped pictures happily as we drove past trees, river and a field
Arriving at the beach, we roamed around all the gift shops to see what we could see
But the grandest, "bestest" sight was standing watching the sunset and it was free
The sun then surrounded us (and many others) with golden tones so mellow
There was a brilliant path across the ocean that shone so pretty and yellow!
All the cameras were clicking merrily catching the beautiful sight
No one left their stations - not one of us wanted to miss the fading light
Turning around and glancing behind at a window of a tourist shop
The sight of the statue of Lewis and Clark mirrored the sunset's backdrop
I'm sure many wondered why I took the pictures of that shop just then
But it captured the beauty of the moment to share with my best friend
As the sun proceeded along its well-known path to descend into the sea,
All the colors brightened immensely to reds and oranges for all to see
No one wanted to move on until the sun was completed with its bright show
The cameras continued to record the scene that surrounded us aglow
The suns final rays shone on the horizon and the show then came to an end
Everyone just moseyed with the cozy warm feelings of being with a friend
My sweetie and I strolled back to the car, not really in a hurry to end this day
We felt God's wonderful blessing through the sunsine day and had to be on our way!
