Peers out from below a blackened heart.
Sanity has forsaken me
And no resurrection can save my soul.
Jesus claims he's there for me
But where has he led me now?
A blackened heart is all I’ve received
A broken, shadowed,
Hole.

A shard of colour can still be seen
But slithers from my grasp.
Lost, I journey into the dark
Now but a shell of innocence
Why did life occur to me?
What desperation does it seek?
A lonely soul cries from deep inside
And tells me "admit defeat"

The same little girl flips through her books
In hunt of a fairies spell
She remembers the one I used to be...
Tries to save me from this hell.

The black is taking over now,
A shadow is seeping through
She rushes, looks frantically,
Over pages she once knew well.
What's left now is a mystery,
Like a feather in a storm
How does it find its way home safe?
How do I go on?

...nicely written...it flows...has a complimentary cadence...it's so sad, though...there is so much out there trying to control our lives...they lie about us to do it...they say we need this, we need that, we're not good enough, do this that and the other thing and whoooosh, life will all fall together...we don't, we are and it doesn't...you can trust that little girl inside more than you can trust anything on the outside...and, Jesus hasn't deserted you...he's not carrying you like the footprints poem...he's not leading you like a lamb...with his spirit inside you, in a way, he is you...he is experiencing all the pain, loneliness, fear...he cries when you cry...he just doesn't talk much and when he does, it's very soft and quiet...

...it was a great poem...years from now you'll dig it out and say, wow, did I write that!

...don't give up,

ron...enigma

I loved the honesty in this poem and it warrants a higher score of the 2.33 that I see. It has a wonderful flow, the description of raw emotion, visually effective.
How do you go on? Feather"s have been known to weather many a storm...spread your wings and let the winds of change carry you!
Angel always...godspeed...joni

dear friend of mine once told me during one of me dark moments in me life:

"God only gives you as much as you can handle and each time he gives you a lil more to make you stronger for the life ahead."

That had taught me to take lessons from each experience I have in life, good or bad. Take the time to find out what you want in life and when you know, take that path. Stay true to self and listen to yer innerself. Thats the only thing in life you can truly trust.

Keep hold of this poem....its a great write.

Huggsss,

Nats.
