Calculated
meaningless words
used to scold.
Lies unfold.
Countless told.
Kept disclosed within a box
for ages.
Tears spill.
Pens fill
and take to parchment
once again.

Levees fail.
Man made
walls cave.
Filthy scavengers
wallow in the mire of
hated places
with twisted faces.
Misled feelings
of desire.
Create some space
hesitate
contemplate.
Come to the stone house
throw rocks
crow like cocks
indeed
I do not care.

Frustrated
with the mind
of those
who inhabit
my earthly realm
Mouths of babes
moving
whilst brain remains
idle.
Use your cellphone
punch numbers
with long fake nails.
Decaying entrails
only blind eyes
can see.

So, I'm growing old
(my soul)
feeling cold.
Betrayed by a race of clones
I do not know.
False skin tones
made from beds of light.
Silicone breasts
sculpted by a knife.
Painted masks.
Faces erased.
Misplaced.
I've got a bad taste
what a waste.

I'm standing here
staring into an ocean
vast.
Heaving emesis
of disgruntled woes.
Unconquered foes
falling victim
to carrion crows.
Stepped onto
too many toes.
Looking for some sign
something familiar
to ease the mind
of one stricken
by so much failure.

Sinking in a tar slick.
Snake bit
lost in a
deep pit
of death and disease.
Something surely
will appease
the gods
I see
swirling in
a haze of
smokeless clouds
surrounding me.

I would so love to hear this read. I have written a few in similar style and would most certainly be interested to find out if i am really "hearing" the cadence that you do, or intended. I found many a terriffic line embedded within. A fine piece of writing in my opinion !!!

This poem raises a multitude of issues; and the style and format seems a perfect fit for what you want to convey. It gives your words a lot of power. A unique and effective style. There seems to be a message to take heed.

Well done, my friend

Yowsa!

I can see how it fits into the "sad poetry" category... but man, this has a kick to it. It has... punch. There's a quick pace here, I think, that makes it read sort of rant-like (in a good way, I mean). But yeh.... there's that heavy sigh at the end too, I think. Potent.

Thinking I'm probably overdue for a write like this myself,

Laura,
I don't know what I could add that others have not said already. I love this style and
you have done it so expertly. I am a bit lost when it comes to writes like this, (mine are
always coerced into a rhyme by some unknown force within). I always find it quite
fascinating and your word choice here was simply magnificent. A lot of depth in here.

Well done, Laura. I must peruse more of your work . . .

*hugs*
~Breezy

...boy, I hear it all...such a familiar scene...I have been an enigma for most of my life...the odd man out...alone in a crowd...the crazy who sees naked emperiors where others ooo and awww...I have been a deeply committed pessimist for most of my life...ironies of ironies, it is beginning to look like I'm going to die an unquenchable optimist...talk about a twist of fate...

...however, I could totally appreciate the tangle of emotions expressed in your poem...

...thanks for your thoughts,

ron...enigma

Yes, welcome to earth. So many things happen as we live our lives, about people, places and things. Sometimes its very difficult to understand, sometimes a little nerve wrecking, and sometimes we grit our teeth. We are all in control, individually, in groups, teams, cities, states, countries, the world. A busy world we live in. A world of emotions. And we have a world going on inside of us too. This poem is full of so much frustrations and disappointments. Anyone reading can visibly see where we can use a little change to correct some of these trials and tribulations.

Great write, thank you..

your friend,

raquelLeah

Good read here.
I got something for you to ponder... do you not think it weird that there are so many kindred spirits within this place? Not that it's bad or anything. It's just that with so many different personalities here, I think it just a tad wonderous that they seem to gravitate towrds one another with any provocation other than a simple sharing of syllables.
Having wasted your day with that I'll say Adieu and...
many thanks for sharing!
