thinking, contemplating and speculating
on the meaning of the life I’m living,
checking out the reflection in the mirror,
try’na figure out why I had to be
who I am
It’s so unfair.
Whatever did I do in the life before this
to be deservant of this bitter bliss.
I can’t be who I wanna be,
self’s path blocked by family name
and societal game.
I’m messed up, wanting to be proud,
but at the same time make proud
those around me.
They are family after all
either we stand together or apart we’ll fall.
This is the dilemma in which I find myself.

Pretty good poem, very expressive.
My advice? Live your life for you, you're the one who's living it after all.

How well I know this dilemma! Struggling through other’s expectations of you is always hard, but you have to be true to what you want, and who you are- it’s your life! Your words flushed over me with sad memory and feelings, I like that. Your poem is deep and meaningful for me, and for you also. I like the way you write with true emotion, and not being afraid to show it. Good job here. Well done!

Laurie

Ash, I have to agree with the other sisters here. You must live your life for you. Hope all works out. Peace, Laura
