I say I don’t have a watch, they say “fine”
And I think back, how I dropped out long ago
How everything around me now is moving slow
And as he turns to go I remember
How everything looked from September

You went to the finest school
Your future set, a university tool
And you smiled out of fright
But soon you were partying in The Ivy on Friday night
And that’s when you met him
But wait, you’ve seen him before with Benjamin
Things are a lot different now than they were before
And before you know it your on your knees at his door

I lie down on dew night grass green
His hot urine rises in clouds of hissing steam

Then came the prom
You were leaning to the Confucius kid, weren’t goanna come
And we shared a joke
About all the serious folk
In the club you were dancing with the girl in the tight red dress
When your back was turned she wiggled her hips and I did my best

The streets erupted in a brawl and a knife blade shone
We were separated, before I could get your number you were gone

I saw Him again today in the face of a thousand Chinese boys
You thief, you stole my heart like Paris stole Helen of Troy’s
And I ride the bus my fist clenched and try not to stare
At the sights of narrow slits and long unkempt silky hair

Now all the jokers wink
Well kiss me then or take another drink

Now I smile at the jack of all trades with his pearl white grin
His smile beg the question is there love within
You look at him is that more than friendship in his eye?
You move in to kiss and He screams “why!”
And you weep as you are left in the metaphorical cold
Ashamed at having ever been so bold

My heart burned by another one of them
And the pinched face worm in the distance just asks where and when

But ‘I’ and ‘you’ and ‘he’ and ‘him’ are still to close to be apart
As are matters of lust and matters of the heart
It’s true for a while there was just us three
Him, you and in the middle me
And then you both went away
Leaving me to replay all the scenes each day
But now I don’t feel you anymore, I just see words on the page
The pen the exorcist the key to the past’s cage

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
