My voice of reason has grown hoarse

Gone galloping through my mind
Painfully uttering
Guttural cries

Trotting through the gardens
Of my discarded dreams
Disturbing the dust that
Had settled over
Unsettling memories

Cantering through consciousness
Distorting vision with its
Incessant, irrepressible
Caterwauling

A wise man once wrote
Passion rules reason.”
Thank you Terry, for being
Both good and kind
Providing me the means
By which to break and tame
These wild whisperings

I rein them in and
Saddle them with abstract art
Bridle them with brilliant beauty
Corralling them within uncertain imagery
Spurred on by blinding color

And in the end
I lead them back into the stable
Where they wait benignly
For a chance to bolt again

My voice of reason has grown

Horse ?

Author's Note:

Passion rules reason, is the wizard's third rule.
The rules are presented in a series of books from
author Terry Goodkind, called the Sword Of Truth.
At present, there are nine books to the series. A
highly anticipated tenth novel is scheduled for a June
release. I have read them all, and found great wisdom
and enjoyment in his writings. Thank you again, Terry.

Naz,

Well I felt roped into reading this the minute I saw the title. Yes, a very clever play on words.
...."For a chance to bolt again." And wild horses couldn't keep me from coraling those passions all over again.....

Delightful poem, Nazzy

Will/Terry
