So why is it that you make me so blue
I tried so hard to just forget
I tried so hard not to regret
But for some reason it's not that easy
And for some reason you continue teasing
I wonder why I can't quit calling
I wonder why I can't quit falling
Even though I know it will never be
I just wish my soul could be free
I wish I could go back to the old days
When it didn't matter anyways
I didn't care about this stuff
And life didn't seem all that rough
I wish it could go back to when I was a child
When life didn't seem so hard and I always smiled
Now I feel as if there is this depression
And all I am left with is this confession

My life's too short to think about you
So why is it that you make me so blue
I tried so hard to just forget
I tried so hard not to regret
But for some reason it's not that easy
And for some reason you continue teasing
I wonder why I can't quit calling
I wonder why I can't quit falling
Even though I know it will never be
I just wish my soul could be free
I wish I could go back to the old days

Your poem reminds me of the song, "Wonderful".
It holds that nostalgic ambiance that life won't let most of us hide from- unless we somehow acquire amnesia. The book I'd recommend when the regret gets to be too much of nuissance: "Conquering Regret" www.bn.com
