he announced quite casually yet deliberatly,
to whom, no one knew, except
the one whose eyes he would not meet,
"I decided to go back with her."

It was followed by mixed replies:
aww's, scoffs, and indifference.
Hurriedly, the crowd pushed by to trail ahead,
leaving behind him and
the one he was now forced to meet eyes with.

"That doesn't seem like you," she said
and he finally looked into her face.
She gave him happy eyes and a smirk.
Although, to him
they were more than a teasing expression.
She read him more deeply than that
and at the same time
masked something of her own.

He snorted, saying,
"What do you mean?
What do you even know about me?!"
And as many would do
when they don't want to give themselves away
...he looked away, again...
and once more followed off with the crowd.

"I know one day
you'll find what makes you happy,"
she replied calmly,
and he whirled around, finding her
unmoved from her spot, hands in pockets -
her eyes wider, watching him intently.

"And what IS
that supposed to be? You?!"

Still she remained
unmoved, and unchanged,
except for a little something
in her expression that had shifted.
Their eyes locked and she moved
two steps to shorten
some of the distance between them.

Not breaking eye contact,
she said softly but with some casualness,
"Knowing from your heart
what you want,
deciding to have it,
and then making it yours,
is what
will make you happy."

But really,
there wasn't anything casual
about the way she spoke. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 152 [topic] => 25 [informant] => she_smiles [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 3 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => MiscPoems )
