Melting in the street...
Like a helpless, starving doe,
Ripped from its mother's teat...
Like a lamb trapped beneath
The clutches of a bear...
Like a tiger, without teeth,
Deprived beyond compare...
Like the fish, within the sea,
Eaten by the shark...
There's no one here, guiding me,
Alone and in the dark.
Like the girl that simply drowned
For slipping down a well...
Like a mute, who makes no sound,
None heard me when I fell...
Like the boy who cannot speak
For all their cruel remarks...
That's what it's like to be a freak,
Exiled to the dark.
Like the silence, never broken...
Like my empty soul...
Like the lies that you have spoken,
Which grow beyond control...
Like a moose, Helplessly stuck
Beneath a fallen tree,
I have no life, I have no luck,
I never will break free.
Like a man without a name,
Who no one ever knew...
Never will I be the same,
No matter what I do.
Like a child that cannot see,
Abandoned in a park...
That's what it's like, being me,
Forgotten in the dark.
Like the man the world despised
Just because it could,
I always will be criticized,
But never understood.
Like a wounded, dying oak,
Stripped of all its bark,
My life is but an empty joke,
Forsaken in the dark. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 148 [topic] => 13 [informant] => MasterWeasel [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )
