I’m not one to shed many tears
My eyes have been dry for many years
Outward emotions I don’t often show
What’s going on inside, few really know
Yet you moved me in a very special way
I listened intently to what you had to say
You reached a side of me that I’ve kept hidden
A tender spot often forbidden
But son my love for you runs so deep
I shed a tear just watching you sleep
You bring out the best in me with such ease
The strings of my heart you easily tease
I get choked- up with the view of your face
Thoughts of you aren’t easily erased

I rush home each night to find you there
We snuggle and hug in our favorite chair
I tell you “I love you”, and you repeat the words
The sound couldn’t be sweeter if it came from birds
You’re everything to me, my greatest joy
There’s little doubt that you’re daddy’s boy
How could I control this emotional tide?
How could I put my emotions aside?
When you’re teaching me that it’s okay
To put all my hang-ups away
And enjoy this wonderful child
And allow my emotions to run completely wild
Thank you son, I owe you a lot
As I dab my eyes in just the right spot

Children have a way of drawing out emotions that we hide from any and everyone else!

Great poem and a loving tribute to your son! Keep a copy for him!
