I never think about the words that flow
Instead, I let my heart and soul take over
not knowing which direction they will go

My poems are always full of such sweet anguish
how life has gotten hard and worn me down
They speak of my lost smile that's been forgotten
replaced by crying eyes and weary frown

My poems are never words about redemption
or how each rising sun will bring me joy
Instead, they tell the tale of my corruption
and memories I wish I could destroy

My poems can't tell the depths of all my sorrows
they're only words upon a written page
They can't expel the guilt that will consume me
while trapped inside this old and tarnished cage

My poems will sometimes be of new beginnings
that never really get the chance to start
They speak of how I long for all this ending
while knowing that I still must play my part

My poems will never say that I am happy
because the words would never ring as true
Instead, they'll paint a picture of my failings
and how I feel my agony is due

My poems are always full of darkened visions
and shadows of myself I cannot hide
Of how I wrought this life that's not worth living
and know my sins cannot be justified

My poems will never be all warm and tender
or say I cannot wait to dream at night
Instead, they show my fears and all my sadness
and how I turned my back on cleansing light

My poems are always based on true emotion
I never think about the words that flow
Instead, I let my heart and soul take over
not knowing which direction they will go

My poems are...
me

You say it lacks 'intensity" but it is just pure wrought emotion that reads perfectly on this page. I think this speaks for many of us poets. We write our emotions. This is well done Crow. I like it for its truth and honesty!
Angel always...godspeed...joni
