Just outside of some town
Little nowhere type place
Where no one would be bound
He sits shaking a fist
In the dark of the night
At all of the things that
Went wrong with his life

And the dreams he perceives
Time has stolen away
From a youth unaware
They could not be replaced

And he curses the child
That he once had been
As he pulls at his hair
And he picks at his skin

As he tries to erase
What’s become of his face

His anger turns into fear

That no one will hear

How the minutes pass by
As they turn into years
The days become numbered
As well as the tears, and
The heart that was hardened
Immune to the pain
Grows soft with each chorus
Every passing refrain

He dials all the numbers
He strains to recall
To beg for forgiveness
On debts in default

For the times he was gone
And for all of his flaws
The times he was wrong
And the pain he has caused

For all his obsessions
And every transgression

To everyone he once held dear

Still no one will hear

All the bridges he’d burned
Such a long time ago
Couldn’t hope to re-span
What continued to grow
The chasms had widened
And deepened as well
He would die all alone
In his personal hell

He saw demons released
Gathering at his feet
And they waited with glee
For his soul to be free

They fought one another
To be next in line, for
A taste of his spirit
On which they would dine

And the last thing revealed
With his final appeal

As the angels began to draw near

Someone always hears

Typical Nazzy. Deep and very profound! What a perfect drive by kinda day. This is writing at it's best. I wish all the newbies could learn something from you and your writing skill.

Heavy stuff Nazzy; very powerful (and effective) ending. This had a great flow too, which added to the intensity of your emotion-packed words. Nicely done.

I know how much writing this must have taken, Scott...

It all seemed so hopeless, but it proves that things can always get better, and it's true, someone is always listening...

A powerful poem, in all the right ways.

Good write,
*hugs*

Naz, a very powerful and personal write, dealing with your relationship with your father; but even moreso his connection with himself and his life. This write reminds me of Erik Ericksons' (sp?)book, "The Eight Stages Of Man." The last stage, in our old age is "Satisfaction vs. Despair". How expertly you have depicted your father's despair.

Nazzy, I'm more and more realizing how much of yourself you put into your poems.

Well done my friend. It causes me to reflect on my relationship with my own father; and his connection with himself.

Will/Terry

Again, beautiful. I love your choice of words, it seems so natural, they fit in where they should.
Take care.
David
