Array ( [sid] => 1122 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => I Owe My Life To Loni [time] => 2002-07-25 21:57:43 [hometext] => This is a true story of what almost happened to me. This was before I was diagnosed with cancer, and I didn't know how important everybody was in my life. It took a long time to get the courage up to post this, but I did it *Smile!* This poem is also dedicated to my friend Loni who was the only one who helped me through this. I just hope that no one makes the same mistake that I almost did.
[bodytext] => The cross I wear around my neck,
Is a reminder of what almost happened to me one night,
And how I almost killed myself.
And how an angel came down and helped me throughout the night.

Nothing was going right anymore,
Everything seemed to be going wrong,
And there was a bottle of aspirin in my bag,
So I wanted to end my life.

I was just about to take the pills,
When something inside me told me to call my friend Loni,
So I picked up the phone,
And dialed her number,
So I could tell her I wasn't going to school tomorrow.

Right when I started talking to her,
She sensed that something was wrong,
So instead of wasting time,
I just told her what I was going to do.

Immediately after I told her,
You could hear her crying,
The tears she cried for fear,
That she would never see me again.

I didn't know what to say when she started to cry,
She kept telling me how important I was in her life,
How she wouldn't change anything about me,
And that she didn't know how she could live without me.

Her words touched my heart,
And tears were in my eyes,
But I still couldn't truly say,
That I wasn't going to go through with this.

After that for 45 minutes,
I just sat in my chair,
Tears streaming down my face,
As I held a picture of my grandpa,
And started to pray.

It was that moment my tears started to stop,
I felt like a blanket of love had been put upon me,
And my angel Loni was right there beside me.

That night I realized,
How much my life meant to me,
And that God cared about me enough,
To help me through this time,
By sending down an angel.

I owe my life to Loni,
For she was the angel that God sent,
Because he knew a friend like that,
Was the only on who could help me.

I truely beleive your an old spirit, with such wisdom of the young. A touching write, and yes, God was watching out for you that day, or the events wouldn't played out, for you to stay.
Thank you for such inspirational thoughts of your life to share.
Amber Rose :)

Well, Kassidi, this one got about 20 emotions going on inside me. I am glad you had Loni...we are all important. We are all in this place for a reason and together we are all like a finely woven cloth, if one thread breaks, the rest will surely ravel...and nothing will ever be the same again.
Take care,
Sherry
