Array ( [sid] => 112088 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Tsunami [time] => 2005-12-25 22:21:48 [hometext] => On this day last year many people lost their lives in Indonesia. One of my friends was there....somehow he survived. I was moved to write this. Blessings to all. [bodytext] => The waves rolled in, gentle, lapping.
Families played, holiday snapping.
Locals at work, the daily routine.
Normality followed by horror unseen.

Deep below the Indian Ocean,
Tectonic plates clashed in motion.
8.9 on the Richter scale.
Causing a wave beyond the pale.
The earthquake was felt for hundreds of miles.
The scientists said,"That's one for the files!"
They didn't envision what was to follow.
A natural disaster that has left the world hollow.

The waves rolled in, relentless, churning.
Lungs filled with water, blackness, burning.
It doesn't seem fair, no-one had warning.
Now there are dozens of nations in mourning.

Wave after wave crashed on the shores.
Obliterating all that stood there before.
India, Shri Lanka, Sumatra, Phuket.
The true devastation not realised yet.

Earthquake, tsunami, next is disease.
They always say tragedy travels in threes.
Now everyone's doing all that they can.
Nations uniting and forming a plan.

The waves roll in, volunteer's, caring.
Clearing debris, grieving, sharing.
Cash from all corners for nations in need.
We'll rebuild it together, a new global creed.
