as much as i miss you
or at least the you i knew
in my eyes
you were made into perfection
no need for any kind of correction
you were as innocent and pure as a baby's first breath
but that was only to me
people tried to tell me what i didn't see
but i never listened
i kept believing
in what only i was seeing
you were sweet and kind
gentle in every way
always had something romantic to say
you held me close
and kissed me from head to toe
in places that only you and i will ever know
the feeling you gave me was so mixed and confusing
like a roller coaster on your very first ride
or the first time you've ever felt the oceans tide
but that was then and this is now
and that guy i knew has gone away
and there's nothing really to do or say
i could say
how much he's the one i miss
i could even break down and cry over this
but it won't bring him back
so after these words, he'll be put in my favorite memories
then i'll lock them away and i'll hide the keys
remembering him
is all i can do

I reach back into that chest of memory
In a room that has a
Shoe box of photographs
They torch and they burn
The things we once were

Very beautiful poem! I know how hard it is to put someone in a box along with all their memories and hide the keys. It's almost too heart-wrenching. I have yet to do it, but your poem truly inspired me. Good luck with this if it reflects your actual life. You will need all the luck in the world to let go..of love.
