The poet

Tickling our fantasy
With words oh so divine
The subtle turns and twists
How the words intertwine

Our minds soon drift away
To places they impart
With images they have captured us
Our journeys can start

They take us from mountains
Into the clear blue sea
The canvases on which they paint
The imaginations of you and me

Together we ride upon the stars
With Angel Choirs we sing
We paint with Michael Angelo
As the Cathedral bells ring

We explore the hearts
Of good men and bad
Perhaps lament the loss
Of the greatest love we ever had

We cry over simple things
We call upon God
We dare go with the poets pen
Where Angels fear to trod

We paint the rainbow
Our tears fall from the sky
We pledge true love
Forever it will not die

We foray into the netherworld
Where death does not always win
For the pen of the poet
Can resurrect us once again

Yes a poet is a dreamer
Able to take you on a ride
Revealing swonders of the universe
Or the secret dreams you hide
