[hometext] => This poem was not directed to anyone specific, just at people in general. It is in human nature to criticize, and hate, and I am making a generalization about the people of the world.
[bodytext] => The light no longer shines in the darkness that engulfs me
The pain, and the suffering is an endless burden I have tried as hard as I can to hold it inside And the smile on my face verifies my deceit I ask of you to let me live without the criticism Because the tears in my eyes are the result of your words And I feel that my existence isn’t worthy of life My faith in God has kept me going this long but even that is slipping through my fingers like sand The happy girl I once was is now a faded memory And my heart turns colder as the days progress Please don’t call me a failure, I beg of you The emotional beating I have endured is substantial And the wall around my heart remains an unbroken barrier I have become overwhelmingly sensitive to words And it is words that have allowed me to express my anguish But you have violated all that I have created And the desire to express is no longer frequent or inspiring Singing was my love, but my voice is no longer heard And the music in my heart is toneless, and faint I am restless, and I often contemplate ending it all But the guilt in my heart and the fear of hell has lengthened the process And has made me wonder if death is the escape I am looking for Perhaps I am just another typical teenage girl with severe anxiety But to know me, you have to look past the outer exterior And realize that I cannot be categorized, or simplified I am not an object, and I refuse to be a victim of your cruelty There is more to me than the judgements you embrace And the rumors you hear that hold no truth or plausibility But despite everything, I forgive you Because you have proved the irrational nature of mankind A categorization, a simplification A weight on your shoulders That is the weight of the world [comments] => 1 [counter] => 203 [topic] => 13 [informant] => Fiona [notes] => [ihome] => 1 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )
