The door no longer swings
That old doorbell has broken
From those million past rings

Hushed whispers from the neighbors
Of the past night’s disaster
Graffiti upon the walls
Pursued by tears of laughter

The families despair
This once loving home
From which a family dispersed
Is covered in vines
Is covered in ashes
From all the weather’s worst

The vines grow tall upon
The security of that beaten down house
The aged floorboards
Scream in hurt
As the footsteps trail above
I walk among the ruins
Left from this once
Brilliant house
The doormat is dismembered
From each bit of heel
Each piece of graffiti
To signify what’s real

This once loving home
Is now a shattered
