December 07, 2005....
It was 24 below zero,
Do you know when it's so
cold where little critter birds go?

they hover on the fence
cuddlegrasp each limp.
tiny balls of feathers
cold, not fast.
they look so cold,
they look so grim.
I have to feed them
so they don't get thin.

a blanket of feathers
precious little critters.
I adore these little
souls, tiny, minute
venerable, unprotected
what is their secret?

some are so friendly
on my window sill they
peek at me a yard away
"she's rather strange,
don't you think?
Let's pray"

"pray for Sunshine
pray for Spring
and thank Him
for the warm hand
that feeds us everyday."
We wee birds are so
thankful for the
food today!"

Please everyone feed
the birds when the temps
are low, then you too--will
know--where they go?

"I hope you love birds too. It is economical.
It saves going to heaven."
~Emily Dickinson~

*Feathered Smiles*

(I took the pictures
in my own backyard)

So very sweet and caring for the tiiest darling creatures of the Lord.
Makes my heart ache, our bird house is gone since my Stephen passed, They came in swarms and feeding them and it was just thrilling watching them approach.
How thoughtful of you to give these darling creatures, such delightful and caring lines.
Yes they too are in the Hands of the loving father who care for each one that falls to the ground.
Thanks for devoting , the beautiful lines and delightful pictures for the sweetest of all singers.
Elizabeth

Consue, this is excellent! I can see you love birds as much as I do. When I lived in Kentucky as a child, I vividly remember the male cardinals standing in the snow and what an amazing contrast of color it was to behold. Great write!
