Array ( [sid] => 111180 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Only Friends [time] => 2005-12-09 10:36:29 [hometext] => This poems about a friendship that I wish was more. I'd love some comments! [bodytext] => It’s night, and I’m with you once more
Driving, talking, like we’ve done before
I take in all the things you say
Feel fear, finality, and dismay
My feelings unshed and my words unspoken

While you talk to your rearview mirror
Our relationship becomes clearer
And I sit silently next to you
Hear your words, know them to be true
Maybe it’s good to have my heart broken

Yes, what you say physically hurts me
But I knew you and I would never BE
So I hold my heart’s edges to my chest
Perhaps our friendship is for the best
And my love will remain unspoken

No, I’ve never been able to say
Though for years I’ve tried many times to relay
Only to pull back, before it became too late
True love, I know, was never our fate
Seven years of friendship will not be broken

So we keep talking in the dark
I nod and smile with each remark
We’re good friends, yes, always will be
Though I never see you, and you never see me
Though my thoughts I’ve never truly spoken

As these thoughts fly behind my eyes
You say, “Nothing will ever sever our ties,”
“You’re one of us,” now the tears begin
And by the time they reach my chin
I know the truth…at last
Can I put my love in the past?
For you…I’ll try.

I understand. Its hard to tell a friend that you like them more than a friend and run that risk of ruinning your relationship. Anyways great write! Like it alot!
