Mommy left a present for the things that creep"

Slowly awaken
Dreams now forsaken
Filled with unshakable dread
Serenity gone
Something is wrong
Senses screaming in my head

Something strange about the dark...

The soft sound of breath
The sweet smell of death
Shadows dancing on the wall
Scratching at the door
Writhing on the floor
As time slows to a crawl

Something is with me in the dark...

Light and dark clash
A silvery flash
A baleful break in the gloom
A shimmering glint
A glimmering hint
The instrument of my doom

Something is gleaming in the dark...

Something is stirring
Fear is recurring
I feel it drawing nearer
Shivers up my spine
My nights are malign
Shadows darken the mirror

Someone is whispering from the dark...

"Hush little baby, don’t you cry
If you make a sound, they’ll eat you alive"

Sickening feeling
Darkness concealing
I’ll just pretend I’m asleep
Behind closed eyes
My fears all arise
Pray the lord my soul to keep

Something is waiting in the dark...

No one would believe
They’re all so naïve
“There’s nothing in your room”
My eyes open wide
I realize they lied
This place will be my tomb

Something is moving in the dark...

All is not alright
Terrors in the night
Too pellucid for a dream
Silence is broken
But I have not spoken
A murmur becomes a scream

Something looming in the dark...

Confined to my bed
Refined form of dread
The darkness swirls all around
No one can save me
My fear has enslaved me
As the shadows all surround

Something laughing in the dark...

"Hush little baby, close your eyes tight
Mommy’s going to let you die tonight"

Yes, i was afraid. of the dark when I was little. I had a nite light till I was 3......Now I cant get enough of silence, and dark at nite. Very interesting Brandin. Like the whole, yet sent chills all over.

Well long time no see, glad to see a new write. Very not so creepy but true isn't it? I remember being a little kid and sticking and arm or leg out from under the covers as if "Yeah it's just an arm or leg I can live without it". The dark plays mind games, you hear sounds and see movement and your fear takes over, you exaggerate every possible door creek or tree rustle lol. Great write, I've certainly missed your poetry, hope to see more soon.

Wow, this truly is a "sadistic lullaby". You have a great style and this kept me glued to the screen with every word. That in itself is a mark of a truly great write! This poem involves the reader's emotions like reading a great book or seeing a damn good movie. It made me want to come in and save the child from the evil "Mommy".

Very brilliant and a great write indeed!

Thanks,

Tim

You are very talented in your craft. It has been a while since I have read your poetry so i thought i would see what you have been writing. Let me know when you publish i will buy a copy of your book if it has this poem in it. I am a big fan of horror.
