Thin line of smoke rises into the cloud overhead diffusing the dim light
Into a black and white movie, each frame flickering uneasily
Eagerness is never appreciated but you can’t seem to help yourself
You keep drinking until you don’t care what people think
You feel like a man who can do anything
You’re the main attraction tonight with your carefully edited jeans
Torn at the knee for special effect, and you keep asking
Dance with me, a smile and a wink won’t get you laid
She says no and I say no and so on down the line
Who are you I wonder as I watch you make a fool of yourself
You want to sing with the band and play guitar
You don’t even notice people rolling their eyes
I want to yell cut and stop the next scene
A train wreck you’ll surely regret, but you’re too fast for me
There you are a super star under the lights
Something sad tugs at my heart when people sing off key
Why do people do things like that, I have to look away
Sure that you’ve impressed the lady
You start to chase her a little too hard
And she leans closer to the other guy, and who could blame her
You light another cigarette in desperation make one last attempt
You dance with her and hold her tight –
She’s doing you a favor I can see it in her eyes
You’re talking now as if she cares as she walks away
Another beer to dull the pain before they yell ‘last call’
The lights come on and people yawn heading for the door
Saturday night has come and gone.

Hmmm, brutal but empathetic at the same time. Poor bugger, life is too messy for clean edits, even the walk ons. Us blokes can be such embarrassments at times. Now, how about one about the lass in the corner with the smeared lippy and the vodka spritzer dripping down her front? (lol). Once again, social commentary in style.
