Yeah, now they don't mean *****.
I've tried to drink those days away,
But I remember all of it.

I breathe the deathly air
Of the day's last cigarette,
You're there in the back of my mind,
Clothed heavy with regret.

My thoughts of those summer days,
Lost in the winters chill,
You know I'd be a dead man,
If lonely thoughts could kill.

I've never been one for long-term,
But you left me wanting more,
I take it day by day,
But I don't know what for.

I hadn't talked to you,
In i don't know how long-
Friendships can be hard,
When you haven't quite moved on.

But since you re-appeared,
In that devil-colored dress,
I haven't been able to think straight,
I haven't been able to rest.

And I know that it's just me-
I just need a little more time.
I guess that that's what happens,
When your heart governs your mind.

My glass stares back at me-
As empty as the night.
I pour myself another,
Like that will make things right.

And somewhere in the city-
the lovers dance and sing-
I've got all the earthly goods I need,
But without you they don't mean a thing.

I'll never have you again,
At least that much I know,
But if sighs were charm and good looks,
I'd have had you long ago.

I breathe the deathly air,
Of the day's last cigarette,
One day I know I'll be fine,
but that day hasn't come yet. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 182 [topic] => 22 [informant] => Scott [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 4 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LostLove )

This was so sad. I can feel your loss and your pain through your words. It is hard to lose someone and have them do that to you afterwards and you feel like you will never once again be alright. I know what that is like. The day will come eventually. Keep your chin up and don't let it drag you down too much. Great poem.

Take care
*hugs*
