Array ( [sid] => 11050 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => gerard and rosie [time] => 2003-01-23 18:20:00 [hometext] => this Sunday coming will be the 6th anniversary of my husband's death...him dying jan.26,1997 in dublin, ireland...a mass will be said in our parish church, but as well, i wanted to repeat some of the same words i had written before...a wee glimpse of our nearly 28 years together( my childhood playmate, first sweetheart)..what time we shared, not at all long enough.... [bodytext] => a magical, beautiful, intense "once in a lifetime"relationship
the man I loved, liked, lusted over and was "in love"with
my lover, my best friend, my partner.
we believed this lifetime not our first together,
nor our last

a surreal existence for 10+ years
then came the day he still wanted to roam
while I wanted to nest, so...
I nested and he roamed
when the pain of separation became too much for him
he returned for a time, but..
the pull of "the other " always won out

first, his times with us were frequent and lengthy
then less frequent and of shorter duration
progressing to
"fly by night" visits
telephone calls from boston, copenhagen,london,chicago
cards, the odd letter from new york, cork, vancouver, dublin
maybe a message from a friend in sligo to say all was well

then a knock on our door the 23rd of december and it's your man
smiles, tears, kisses, laughter and
a hug so tight and strong with neither of us wanting to let go
we seemed to sense something was about to happen
I remember a moment that holiday
(one nevers remembers days, only moments)
we were laughing about something
but we were uneasy about the future
we laughed at our uneasiness
we thought it hilarious
but then
he died
January 26

I was in bits- a shrieking banshee struck a sudden and mortal blow
shivering violently from grief
a face as pale as a corpse
eyes red from crying enough tears to fill up an ocean(as Rory had said)
a lady gone mad with sorrow

now, it seems there are no longer any tears to shed, as
the whole grieving process was taken to the extreme
(me I never do anything by halves)
what's left are the bittersweet memories that will remain with me
forever

Rosie,
Oh wow... I can't imagine what that would have been like, must be like, or the pain you've gone through because of it but you're right the memories will always remain... cherish them...Beautiful write, touching...
