The monkey he sits on high
way up in his tree.
His court picked from his matted fur
nothing more than his own fleas.

A man stares with bloodshot eyes
through a tube of mirror and lens.
Looking for an answer in the skies
to atone for his past sins.

A girl sits scared in the dark.
A fear not of ghost or ghouls or even her own demise
The demon she fears is very real
it is the lust in her father’s eyes.

A woman ties a band around her arm
to try and find a vein.
She hopes the needle in her hand
will make her pain fade.

A man falls face down in an alley
victim of society’s woes.
Although he will remain happy
as long as the bourbon flows.

A group of men load backpacks
with things that will surely blow.
They set upon a course of hatred
to murder someone they don’t even know.

The monkey sits on high way up in his castle.
Happy now he’s found a queen to bear his successor.
He spots a human and with a wide smile
he knows who will be his court jester. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 169 [topic] => 21 [informant] => poisonpen00ad [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 15 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

Fascinating write here, very effective use of descriptions used to establish contacts, like the way the monkey views us, perhaps seeing us as his fool, nice twist.

I must say that I am truly going to miss you, take care, be well, I will pray for you always... Raquel Leah
