knight in shining armor

A sad little girl
sitting alone
on a park bench
her head in her hands
crying her eyes out
she is ashamed
of her life
how its spiraling
out of her control

hello its me
your knight
in shining armor
I'm here to save
so princess dry
dry your eyes
you’re safe

she said tell me
how does a life
come to this
I’ve been raped
abused, broken,
my mother doesn’t care
my father is a drunk
I can’t live like this
with scars on my wrist

hello its me
your knight
in shining armor
I'm here to save
so princess dry
dry your eyes
you’re safe

Smiling with one
swift movement
she slices my throat
while I carry her away
on my white horse
the last thing I see
is the sunset
with her smiling
laughing at my feeble
attempts to save someone
who never wanted to be saved

hello its me
your knight
in shining armor
I'm here to save
so princess dry
dry your eyes
you’re safe

...the story of my life...well...kind of...I never viewed myself as much more than a Don Quixote sort...my wife, unbeknowst to me, viewed me as your Knight In Shining Armor...when her rose tinted visor came off, she started her slashing...

...I'm not into this "armor stuff" anymore...

...you captured the feel of the whole thing very well...
