PRAY TELL DEAR GOD
FOR WHAT?

Youth so vital, energetic, venerable,
fall to monstrous angry guns.
But
For What? For What?
Pray Tell Dear God Above
For What?

Why must man love his wars?
our youth so doomed......
Youth groomed, just starting
their lives......entombed.
But
For What? For What?
Pray tell Dear God Above
For What?

A mother gives birth, first glance,
instant and endearing,
A son so special, two hearts
bonding.......
Hers bleeding, buried his
endless yearning......
But
For What? For What?
Pray tell Dear God Above
For What?

A father loses his son, stays brave
with admiration,
Reality not accepted, his
feelings deaden
But
For What? For What"
Pray Tell Dear God Above
For what?

Years of worry, years of dreams
nourishing........
Sacrifices, hard work, coated
with care and loving.......
But
For What? For what?
Pray Tell Dear God
For What?

Giving their lives freely,
without question.....
Ages pass, honorably buried,
names forgotten,
But
For What? For What?
Pray Tell Dear God
For What?

Veterans Day

"We make war that we may live in peace."
Author: Aristides ("The Just")

"Precious lives lost -
--Dear God--
What a Waste
--Dear God--
For What?"

Words to the Taps
The song played at
their funerals.

(Note: there are no "official" words to Taps
below are the most popular.)

Day is done,
gone the sun,
From the hills,
from the lake,
From the skies.
All is well,
safely rest,
God is nigh.
Go to sleep,
peaceful sleep,
May the soldier
or sailor,
God keep.
On the land
or the deep,
Safe in sleep.

Love, good night,
Must thou go,
When the day,
And the night
Need thee so?
All is well.
Speedeth all
To their rest.

Fades the light;
And afar
Goeth day,
And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well;
Day has gone,
Night is on.

Thanks and praise,
For our days,
'Neath the sun,
Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go,
This we know,
God is nigh.

For What?
Pray Tell Dear God

Heart-breaking! gut-wrenching.
For what ? God has His plans.
No sacrifice is made in vain. Heroes are our shining stars intercessors before the throne of God Almighty.

Heart-wrenchig ;oem. Soooooooooo beautifuil and bitterly sad.
May the Lord in His love comfort the families and repay them a thousandfold for heroic scrifices.
Thanks you ConSue for this splendid tribute. and your thoughtfulness for those that suffer loss.
Warm love
Elizabeth

Awesome write. So gripping and the final Touch of the sorrowful sound of taps. The words themselves are sad but giving also. Thank you for this . Thank you for sharing.

Dear consue, I can feel your frustration and pain in every word written here. I see these young men and women who volunteer themselves for this dangerous duty and I am reminded of the words of Jesus Christ: "No man hath greater love than one who would lay down his life for his friends." Please read "Invictus" if you get time: http://www.your-poetry.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=111767

Here some 16 months later the numbers are getting higher every day. An excellent dedication.
