The many things
We should have said,
Never left our lips.
And now tears are shed.

The thoughtful things
We could have done,
To show our love,
Were not begun.

So, we gathered around
To say goodbye.
The tears welled up,
We began to cry.

But, as the angels once said
When the Savior arose,
“Why stand ye here gazing
Up into the clouds?”

For He’s coming again,
Just as He was taken.
Since Dad’s with Him now,
My faith is not shaken.

We can not tell
What each day will bring.
We were all too late once.
Is Twice late your thing?

beautiful write. I know for those I have lost, I have wished I could have done or said some of the things before they left. But sometimes as I have learned, they never really leave, they are here always. Their physical bodies gone, but they remain with us as in the touch of a soft summer breeze on a hot day whislist thinking of them. A little soft bird, beautiful in his plummage visits on a rainy day.... those you have lost including animals, are around you, just open yourself up to the uncommon envents of daily life around you, a phone ringing, no one is on it, a feeling of someone in a favorite chair, a familiar scent or smell, just things as this, your loved ones are around. God gives us many gifts, family and friends, pets, are all loved, and still are even if their physical bodies are not here. Sorry for your loss, in time you will see more then what you can now. Take care, and keep writing your beautiful writes.

Your poem speaks very loud. I just got through a big depression these past few days over grief once again, hopefully I can rest now... with a lost loved one, actually several, but they are found, God and the crew, we are all together.. I am feeling much better. Such wisdom you have in your writing pieces my dear friend.

We can not tell
What each day will bring.
We were all too late once.
Is Twice late your thing?

You are ever so correct, the time is now to speak and those kind words are so important. We can speak through loving tongues while we can, each day we can.... yes, a lot of us missed the wisdom that your poem speaks of, and a lot of us are now speaking to them in heaven. My first husband passed away, we only had a few good years, I thought I shared much with him in so little time, sometimes I wish I could have shared more.. I also lost a good friend, a police officer.. he rests in heaven... lots of family are there, friends... I have learned to be more open, to share my heart.. to let all know just how much I love them... and then when I go to my final rest, I will not regret that I never tried.. Huggs my dear friend.. Robert...keep writing, you teach us well..
