still we try to do all what we think is best
is this some folly...just a fool's merry quest
knowing it all ends in that dank soil nest

That 'end of the rainbow' must keep us alive
worthless wishes for which we always strive
that thing we call hope becomes our petty drive
it truly is the faux strength that lets us thrive

Minute by year, we carelessly trudge along
false security makes us think we're so strong
misplaced pride allows us to feel as if we belong
that hole in the ground just proves us wrong

The pain of living grows larger every single day
battered and bloody, we just want it to all go away
somehow, it just finds another excuse to stay
dark sleep calls but there will be a price to pay

We go without a clue, up a mountain far too steep
and our getting there is just life's infernal creep
really, no time for friends or family nor even sleep
what use are they, in that reviled burrow deep

Another despised dawn eagerly burns our eyesight
as a cold, soulless and thoroughly unwanted blight
once again we feel the grip of numbing pain too tight
and we go on aware that our life will never be right

Life is full of pain, but it also brings many gains. Please read my poem- 'Lifes Gain'- I've tried to make light of the stuff that sucks. You have captured well the seeming futility of life in this work. Good rhythm and rhyme. Well done.

A deep, dark and very painful write. Life has alot of downs, but there are alot of ups too.
Take the time out to enjoy the simple things in life. May your days ahead be much brighter.
*hugs*

god damn that is sad. Man, I have been rolling in my own depression and loathing every moment of it. Reading someone else's makes me feel not so damned alone. Good write. I truly love your writing talent.
Peace and hugs,
Me
