…running through life,
just trying to avoid the pain…
…dodging raindrops,
in the middle of a fierce tropical hurricane…
…we all, yeah, we look kind'a normal,
cause we're all kind'a going insane,
it's so sad…
it's just so sad…
it's just so damn sad…

I've walked the streets of New York City,
I've stood gazing at the Golden Gate…
So many people, they're thinkin' that they're makin' love
when what they're doin' is actin' out their hatred of life,
yeah, and it's goin' down like a double edged knife…
it hurts so bad,
it's just so sad,
it's just so damn sad…

David and Elizabeth
were tryin' to live the American Dream…
…tryin' to set their compass by just one of those thousand points of light,
they got lost in the middle of a flooded, raging stream…
…nobody heard those shots that night,
nobody heard their scream…
it's all so sad,
it's just so sad,
it's just so damn sad…

We spend our time and our money
seeking pleasures and making war,
while our children are sacrificed on a sheepskin alter
to a godless whore…
and we're all, we're dancin' with the devil
on a hell heated cast-iron floor…
it's so sad,
it's just so sad,
it's just so damn sad…

Where is this 'Brotherhood of Man,'
this cup of cold water given in His name?
Where is the antidote
for this all pervasive toxic shame?
How twisted does this world have to get
before we realize we're not playin' some high stakes religious game?
it's so sad,
it's just so sad,
it's just so damn sad…

this is more emotional than i've seen you, but i do like it. "we spend our time and our money seeking pleasures adn making war while our children are sacrificed on a sheepskin altar to a godless whore..." well defined, clear, with a good flow.
