Mocking me as I'm lost in thought
Memories bouncing all around me
In a never ending taunt
Your face is all around me
As I sit upon my bed
Curled up with a picture of us
Didn't we look happy?
Tears are forming
And sobs are chocking me
I'm missing you so much
Your voice follows me around
Everything reminding me of you
What is life if your better half is gone?
What do I have to live for?
My toddler walks in
Her teddy at her side
Crying for her daddy
She climbs into bed to lay at my side
I shush her and strock her hair
This is what I have
This is what I live for
So until death knocks on my door again
The memories subside
And the pain lessens
Dream well, my baby girl,
I'm here to protect you from the pain of memory [comments] => 3 [counter] => 159 [topic] => 24 [informant] => DesolantDreamer [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LoveRemembered )

The Lord is ever so present here this day YPDC, He guides me to your beautiful poetry. I need to visit your words, thank you... I kept some of the ashes in a beautiful urn, his picture is above, sometimes I have to hang a towel over the picture and the vase... ok, now sweetheart, as I walk thru the house, well, in my bathing suit.. I sense him still, hey, bodies go, souls live on.. be comforted, the Lord will provide....oh yes, memories, pain, but you are well protected, and never forget it, and hold still, your loved one surrounds you all the time....Jesus lets it happen, He loves us that much, He never truly takes away...

I liked how it transitioned from hopelessness to hopeful. Good stuff.

Very nice poem, if a little sad.
