Neon travellers stamped the raindrops, faceless faces in gypsy wanderings
World of prisoners whose minds rusted in the apparel of darkness
Lair of the trapped, the manipulative and the damned

Cherry red lips beckoned passing strangers, choreographed seduction
Painted doll smile drew synthetic lovers, predemitated streetlight rendezvous
Reality, necessity, choked life, turned woman into being
Too many rainsoaked days stole the dreams from the dreamer

Locket hung around her neck, beacon of her identity
Dignity stripped bare, staring at ceilings in familiar hotel rooms
Passion mechanical, submission to the missionary
Monetary pleasure served by grunting to the clock

Eyes that appeared colder than wintered railings
Shut out views of emotion, not included in the price
They took her body, felt sated in her arms
But the tears of the lonely showed, they never took her heart [comments] => 8 [counter] => 243 [topic] => 32 [informant] => puppy_dog_eyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 25 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

yes, this is sad. all I can say is, we are all stripped at times in many ways. reminds me of when I was teaching, how I had to sell myself, have that certain attitude, personality, cosmetic look in order to pass trust along to the faculty and students both. sometimes it was hard to be real, get taken, but somehow I managed to keep my heart safe. In a way, your poem has a sense of happiness in it, because although they took all of her, they stayed away from the heart, perhaps that was a Godsend. the world is in a mess, choose the part of it that will allow you to grow and get to where you are going..

I wear my locket inside of me, not around my neck, it is a small case of precious love and mementos, it has no chain, souvenir of love, which I have a write by that title.

This is a very abstract piece, yet you have some great ideas in here. I'm just not so sure you quite wrote it in the best way...While there's no need to fully expose your thoughts in poetry, the reader should be able to take something away from a write. This could be fantastic if tweaked a little, but as it stands, it's a tad too veiled...Keep up the writes though, you certainly have the talent for poetry.
