Given a hammer,
and told to sew.
I haven't the tools
to embroider a gown,
so I sit in my room,
hammering my cloth
into pitiful shreds
of
blue,
black,
and brown...
And soon,
very soon,
not even the cleverest tailor
will possess the skill
to mend my cloth...
Even now,
it lies strewn about
like the torn and tattered battle flag
of a conquered nation,
it lies so limp,
so worthless.
And yet,
I beat,
and beat,
and will continue to beat,
until
it is
no
more.

Don't feel bad little poem, you capture the irony of the situation life place your author in. Just be thankful he's no longer in it!

Live on...

Who sends full colors that mix into one, who has the proper tools to fit, other than who reads this, and if so, what is exempt to fill all? why must one feel this way, well, do we keep beating, until we beat it to death, one still stands united? All, or one, what is most? I wonder.

The beauty of poetry is that it can be interpreted so differently by so many different people. I come away with the feeling and imagery of a person that is battling emotions they are ill equipped to handle and they feel as though they are losing said battle.

"Even now,
it lies strewn about
like the torn and tattered battle flag
of a conquered nation"

The hammer is the mind ? The fabric ... emotion ?

Just the way I interpret it, and I like that metaphore.
