beneath my blistered feet.
Thirsty paddocks yearning,
for rain that wants to meet.
Winter comes a-calling,
green trees falling to sleep.
Waiting for the spring,
and the birds to sing and tweet.

A long and frosty winter soon turns into a time,
of birth to sing and praise the great big blue sky.
Awake in early hours,
to clean the out back pigsty.
Workin' all day, havin' fun at night, but...
there's alot of dirty jobs to do i know i can't deny.

Workin' on the farm,
throughout drought and flood.
Going on with cuts and bruises,
even if you loose some blood.
Well, that's the aussie way,
labouring each and every day.

Hurray to Australia! I had not known Coni! Hurray to the Aussies!

You bring farm life so pictorially and beautifully before the readers eyes.
And the change of the seasons.
A delightfujl read - and so instructive.

Thanks a lot for sharing it with us!

Elizabeth.

Hey Coni your daughter did a really good job with this write. I am a fair dinkum Aussie too.
I like the way the seasons were put into the verses. She gets a big 5 stars for such a wonderful write.
*hugs*
Sue

Coni: I love this, thank you for sharing a part of Australia, it sounds so beautiful there. I was raised up on a farm and I truly miss it. I am a city gal now. But, the country is in me, and it will never leave. Most beautiful write, a heart loving one at its best.

Coni, you've grown some real talent there- you might end up with another bush poet in the family.
