Healing Rain

Contributed by Lone_er on Monday, 20th January 2003 @ 12:40:00 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

The rain falls steadily
Tapping methodically upon the ground
Never have I heard
Such a tragic hopeless sound

It washes away stains
Of brothers sacrificial blood
Spilled all over the battlefield
Such a horrid crimson flood

We met here in Gettysburg
To fight for what we thought right
So many brothers on either side
Lie dead or dying here tonight

Tomorrow the rain will fall again
A response from above
God in His abundant mercy
Will send rain in love

For we will fight again
Many more brothers will die
And again Gods sorrow
Will fall from the sky

Washing away the fears
The pleadings of terrified men
Perhaps this time the rain
Will help healing begin

The healing of rifts
Caused by American brothers pride
Sealing of wounds
Festering on either side

Perhaps the tears of God
Will soften hearts that remain
And the voices of dying brothers
Are no longer silenced in vain

Russ
