[hometext] => this is was written with deep reflection on the present and past events in my country (Nigeria)
[bodytext] => I know a certain river Across it lives Miss Nija She is but turned to a pretty old hag Been married in time past but to some false lads Now she suffers the need for a good prince Whose words in quality must not be minced It is not been long She awakened to a new wedding song and danced to the tune of her new prince But found in him a different music Forty-four years, corrupt minds have sheared her bed only tears and sorrows have they left her shed Nija’s bed has been a field of play Where many princes have plundered her clay and they left her in her breeches as they devoured her many riches her oily clay won’t protect her from decay she looks at her bed in dismay She looks for a good prince A miracle must she pray for, since the gods have tried and tied of her ways And to their beds must they make haste So Nija in her state should lie waste.
