Shades of Grey

Contributed by chibimiroku on Monday, 10th October 2005 @ 10:59:57 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

What is truth? Naught but lies.
What are lies? Naught but truth.
How can we fail to see what’s before out eyes?

Do we truly not see?
Or convince ourselves that we do not?
Which of our truths will set us free?

Truth is what others with to hear
Lies are what you want to hear
So why then do lies bring us such unjust fear?

We know from our experiences
That liars win, are famous, rich and revered;
Why then do lies bring us internal strife?

From our daily travels we also know
That truth brings little but disbelief;
Foretellers of the past were all brought low.

Why does lying cause such hesitation?
If we know lying is the surest path to success;
Why is it handled with such unappreciation?

We’re taught by fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers
That it is a heinous crime to lie to oneself
But is it a worse crime, then, to lie to others?

Or were truth and lies always one and the same
And that only for our weakness and blindness;
Who else but ourselves do we have to blame?

This was a very intelligent write. I like the self answerable questions and the flow. Great job.

Be well,
Loende
